Boosh Supports the Mustard Seed Food Bank
Early January, Boosh Food donated 800 pre-packaged plant-based frozen meals to The Mustard Seed Food Bank for their Food Security Distribution Centre located in Esquimalt, BC. The Centre stores non-perishable food and sorts clean and rescues perishable food from local grocers.
"Boosh Food supports many different community groups from Mamas for Mamas, Options Community Services and others that provide nutritious meals for those in need," says Connie Marples, Founder, Boosh Food. "At Boosh, we believe that all of us need to step up and support our communities, especially while many are struggling to meet basic food and nutritional requirements in this time of COVID-19."
As part of their Food Rescue Project, The Mustard Seed takes in more than 4,000 pounds of produce and dairy products. This food is redirected from going into the waste stream. The Mustard Seed'sSeed's commercial processing kitchen further reduces food waste in the community by taking items that are not easily redistributed and turning them into prepared hot meals for their Queens Avenue location in Esquimalt.
